Averie: 19 Months

Averie had her 18 19-month well-child visit on Friday (we got behind!).  She continues to be our long, lean baby toddler at 24 pounds even (40th percentile) and 34 inches tall (95th percentile).  Wow!  I am so glad it's summer because now we don't have to worry about her pants being long enough! :)  Her shorts are just...shorter.  LOL.

Averie is feeding herself with a fork and spoon, going up and down stairs, and pointing to the body parts we name (eyes, nose, mouth, ears, bellybutton, toes and hair).  She knows how to use a phone and a hairbrush.  She can stack 4+ blocks all by herself -- her towers start to get a little wobbly after that, so if we straighten them out, she'll stack up to 7 blocks!  She also helps put away her toys at the end of the day, which is a big help!

The only area Averie continues to be delayed in is speech.  Lots of babbling and with such inflection and excitement that I'm sure her "words" mean something to her, but the rest of us can't decipher it!  Her pediatrician is concerned, but not overly so, and we'll have her evaluated if things don't improve in the next couple months.  She does understand lots of the words we say and is effective at gesturing to what she wants or needs, so that makes communication easier.

The happiest news from the well-baby visit is she is ALL DONE with her shots until her 5-year kindergarten shots!  Those are the worst part of a well-baby visit for both her and us, so I know if she could, she would say how happy she is that she won't have to get poked for another 3 1/2 years :).

Averie has also started using the potty at bathtime.  Based on our own research and the advice of her pediatrician, we don't push it at any other time, but after peeing in the bathtub every time we put her in it, we figured a little time sitting on it while the tub was filling would be good!  She is very proud of herself when she goes.

A fairly recent accomplishment of Averie's is climbing into the office chair all by herself and clicking and "typing" away!  This picture is a little blurry but by far, the best representation of the look on her face when she gets caught!

She is turning from my baby into a little girl.  Soon she'll be going off to preschool.  We see a sibling in her near future (no, we are not announcing anything!)......
